Abstract
Pi Xirui realized that education was fundamental to making a country rich and strong. He thought it more important to develop education and cultivate qualified people than to select and appoint them. Therefore during the two famous reforms in the late Qing dynasty, Pi Xirui tried his best to push on the abolition of the old examination system and participated actively in the establishment of new education. He devoted his life to the modernization of education in Hunan.
