Abstract

Objective:To explore the gene polymorphism and activity of lipoprotein lipase and its relation to serum lipids in patients with premature coronary heart disease(CHD).Methods:One hundred and twenty eight patients with premature CHD (group A) and 116 persons without CHD (group B) were enrolled for this study. By using the method of polymerse chain reaction restriction fragment length polymorphism to analyze distribution of frequency in P genotypes and P+ alleles of the LPL gene, the results were compared between the two groups. Results:There were higher frequencies of P+P+ genotype and P+ alleles in group A than that in group B.Compared with the individuals of the P-P- genotype, patients with the P+P+ genotype had low LPL activity and levels of HDL C,but the levels of TG were promoted(P 0.05). Conclusion:There were high frequencies of P+P+ genotype and P+ alleles and low LPL activity in patients with premature CHD. P+P+ genotype may affect plasm TG and HDL C through alteration of serum LPL activities.
