Clinical effect of treating skin pruritus caused by uremia by hemoperfusion-hemodialysis series

Objective To investigate and analyze the treating effect of the skin pruritus caused by uremia through the control study between hemoperfusion(HP)-hemodialysis(HD) series and pure hemodialysis(HD).Methods Uremia patients were randomly divided into the test group(n=17) and control group(n=18).The HD treatment was used in the control group and the HP-HD series in the test group.The time of pruritus relief and the levels of β_2-mG,iPTH,P~(3-) and Ca~(2+) in the blood were measured before and after treatment.Results The skin pruritus symptom in the test group was completely relieved in 6 cases,conspicuously mitigated in 10 cases,and minimally mitigated in 1 case.The effective rate was 94.12%.The initiating time for effectiveness was from 15 to 20 days after treatment.In the control group,however,the skin pruritus symptom was not meliorated in all cases and 3 of them even aggravated.There was significant difference between the two groups(P 0.01).Conclusion The HP-HD series has remarkable effects in treating skin pruritus.It deserves to be popularized clinically.
