Abstract

Objective To explore the clinical efficacy of maintenance hemodialysis(HD)combined with hemoperfusion(HP)in treatment of uremic pruritus. Methods Forty-five patients with end-stage uremia were randomly divided into observation group(n=23)and control group(n=22).On the basis of nutritional support and comprehensive treatment, patients in observation group were treated with combined HD/HP,while the patients in control group received HD treatment only.Three weeks after treatment, the levels of thyroid hormone(PTH) and β2-microglobulin(β2-MG),and alleviation of pruritus were compared between the two groups. Results Combined HD/HP induced a decrease in concentrations of PTH and β2-MG 3 weeks after treatment(P0.05).Compared with control group, the concentrations of PTH and β2-MG were decreased and pruritus symptoms were improved in observation group(P0.05).Conclusion Compared with HD alone, combined therapy with HD and HP can significantly decrease the levels of PTH and β2-MG and alleviate pruritus symptoms.
