Comparative study of low-dose olanzapine angumentation with citalopram in senile depression

Abstract

Objective To investigate the efficacy of low-dose olanzapine combined with citalopram in the treatment of senile depression. Methods 82 case of senile patients were divide into study group with low-dose olanzapine combined with citalopram and control group with citalopram for 12 weeks of treatment.They were assessed and analyzed contrastively using Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD),Hamilton Anxiety Scale(HAMA) for clinical efficacy and Treatment Emergent Symptom Scale(TESS) for side effects. Results After treatment,the scores of HAMD and HAMA in two groups were both significantly lower than those before treatment.In the 1st,2nd,4th,8th and 12th weekend of treatment,the scores of HAMD and HAMA in study group were significantly lower than those in control group(P≤0.01).No severe side effects were found in two groups. Conclusions A combination of low-dose olanzapine and citalopram has obvious effects in the treatment of senile depression.
