Therapeutic effects of amniotic membrane transplantation in 38 cases of pterygium

Abstract
Objective To observe the effects of amniotic membrane transplantation in treating pterygium. Methods 35 patients (38 eyes) with pterygium were treated with amniotic membrane transplantation and followed up for 6-20 months. Results The curative rate of primary operation for pterygium was 97.37and the recurrence rate was 2.63 (1 eye) All the grafts survived Conclusions Excision of pterygium combined with amniotic transplantation is a valuable method for treating pterygium with high curative rate and low recurrent rate.
