Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinical effects of amniotic membrane transplantation for pterygium. Methods Transplantation of amniotic membrane were adopted to treat 71 cases(78 eyes) with original and recurrent pterygium,follow-up time was 12 to 28 months. Results 74 eyes were cured(94.87%),while 4 eyes(5.13%) with pterygium recurrent. The causes of recurrence may be remains of pterygium tissues and incomplete stopping bleeding. Conclusions Transplantation of amniotic membrane for pterygium is an effective surgery, the key of which is to stop bleeding and clear pterygium tissues.
