Abstract

To study the effects of grape seed powder on antioxidation and ultrastructure in the liver of high-fatdiet rats.Sixty male Wistar rats were divided into 5 groups, including control group, high lipid group and grape seed powder low-,medium-and high- dose groups. The rats in control group and high lipid group were lavaged with physiological saline and the rats in grape seed powder groups were lavaged with different doses of grape seed powder.28 days later, all the rats were killed, the activity of SOD and contents of MDA in liver tissues were determined;the changes in ultrastructure were observed by electron microscope.Compared with the high lipid group,SOD activity of grape seed powder group of liver tissue of rats increased significantly(P0.05),MDA content decreased significantly(P 0.01).Ultrastructure showed that, grape seed powder could improve the structure of high-fat diet induced rat liver cell injury.Grape seed powder could improve the ability of antioxidative stress in rats fed with high lipid diet, protect the liver cells.
