The medical staff 's compliance with hand hygiene in a primary hospital

Objective:To investigate the medial staff 's compliance with hand hygiene.Methods:The medical staff from different departments were investigated about their knowledge of hand hygiene and their compliance with hand hygiene was observed.Results:The compliance rate was 58.4% before touching patients,47.5% before wearing gloves.The medical personnel from the paediatrics department had highest compliance rate (78.8%),and those from the emergency department had lowest compliance rate (47.3%).Nurses had higher compliance rate than doctors.Conclusion:Some method should be taken to decrease the nosocomial infection rate,those were:various training method,feeding back nosocomial infection monitoring results in time and realistic,investigating staff's compliance with hand hygiene,perfecting hand-washing facilities,providing hand disinfectors,and standardizing staff's hand-washing behavior.
