Abstract

Objective To compare the efficacy of three different treatments on condyloma acuminatum recurrence.Methods Total 175 cases of outpatient condyloma acuminatum (Jan,2002-Jun,2007) received surgical excision with CO2 laser with one of the following adjunct remedies:Imiquimod ointment topical use,interferon alpha-2b intralesional injection, polysaccharide nucleic acid intramuscular injection and normal control (without any treatments).Results The recurrent rates of three remedies of Imiquimod ointment,interferon alpha, and polysaccharide nucleic acid and normal control were 12.00 %,16.00%,71.11 % and 73.33%,respectively.There were statistical difference between the two former remedies and polysaccharide nucleic acid or control group(P0.01).However,there were not statistical difference between Imiquimod and interferon remedy(P0.05). Conclusion Imiquimod ointment topical use and interferon intralesional injection may have prophylactic potential against recurrence of condyloma acuminatum.
