Abstract

Objective: To explore changes of interleukin 6 (IL 6), tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF α) in cerebral spinal fluid (CSF), cortex and hippocampus of the rats with global brain ischemia reperfusion. Methods: The experimental animal model of the global cerebral ischemia reperfusion was made. The contents of IL 6, TNF α in the CSF were measured by ELISA and the IL 6 immunoreactive positive cells in their parietal lobe cortex and hippocampus were analyzed during ischemia reperfusion by immunohistochemistry. Results: The contents of TNF α, IL 6 in the rat CSF was significantly increased after one h ischemia reperfusion; The IL 6 immunoreactivity in hippocampus was increased apparently 0.5 h after ischemia reperfusion, and this occurred to the parietal cortex one h ischemia reperfusion. Conclusion:IL 6 and TNF α may play roles in the pathogenesis of the brain ischemia reperfusion injury of the rats. There is some time discordance of the IL 6 immunoreactivity between the parietal lobe cortex and hippocampus.
