Abstract
Objective To discuss about the clinical efficacy and safety of Irbesartan joint with Hydrochlorothiazide therapy in elderly hypertension of 38 patients. Methods Seventy-six elderly hypertension patients treated in our out-patient department were randomly divided into observation group and control group with 38 cases respectively.Patients in the observation group was treated with Irbesartan Hydrochlorothiazide tablets(containing irbesartan 150 mg and hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg),while patients in the control group was treated with irbesartan 150 mg.A course of treatment lasted four weeks with 1 tablet per day was given. The changes of various indicators and antihypertensive effect were measured and compared between the two groups. Results Statistically significant difference(P 0.05) exited in the blood pressure of both group after a 12-week respective treatment in comparison with that before the treatment in which patients in both group had lower blood pressure after treatment. No statistically significant difference(P 0.05) exited in the blood pressure after treatment between the two groups.Statistically significant difference(P 0.05) exited in total effective rate and the ratio to have adverse effects in which the observation group showed higher total effective rate and lower ratio to have adverse effects. Conclusion Irbesartan joint with Hydrochlorothiazide therapy is worth of widely clinical application with the characteristic of certain efficacy, well tolerance and little obvious adverse effects.
