Effects of Fluvastatin on Blood Levels of Interleukin-18 and TNFα in Patients with Unstable Angina Pectoris

Abstract

To investigate the effect of fluvastatin on blood levels of interleukin-18 and TNFα in patients with unstable angina pectoris.Methods 79 patients with unstable angina pectoris from September,2006 to July,2007 were randomized into two groups: control group;fluvastatin treating group(fluvastatin 40mg/d).Serum levels of IL-18 and TNFαwere measured before and after two weeks treatment.Result After treatment,in fluvastatin treating group(P0.01) and the control group(P0.05),the serum levels of IL-18 and TNFαdecreased distinctly;After treatment,the serum levels of IL-18(P0.01)and TNFα(P0.01)in fluvastatin treating group are distinctly lower than that in the control group.Conclusion The result suggests that fluvastatin can lead to a detectable decrease in serum levels of IL-18 and TNFαin patients with unstable angina pectoris.
