Abstract
In order to know the efficacy of chlorine dioxide generated by GZO 99-50A chlorine dioxide generator in disinfection of water, filter membrane method was used to examine its efficacy in killing Escherichia coli. The results indicated that the average available chlorine content of the chlorine dioxide disinfectant solu- tion generated by the chlorine dioxide generator was 235 mg/L and the average chlorine dioxide content was 70.02 mg/L. When the available chlorine content of the chlorine dioxide disinfectant solution in the water sample was 1.0 (chlorine dioxide 0.3) mg/ L, Escherichia coli in the artificially contaminated water sample and the field water sample decreased to 0 cfu / 100 ml after exposure for 3 min and the coli-group in natural water sample decreased to 0 cfu/ 100 ml after exposure for 2 min. pH value and organic substance had no significant influence on its germicidal efficacy.
