Abstract

Objective:To observe the effect of 17β-estradiol on skeletal muscle ischemia reperfusion injury in rats. Methods:Ischemic reperfusion model of the hindlimb was set up,and 30 rats were randomly divided into three groups.Sham group, ischemia reperfusion control group with normal saline treatment and estrogen group with 17β-estradiol treatment.Fully automatic biochemistry analyzer was used to measure the degree of muscle damage, malondialdehyde(MDA),creatinephosphokinase(CPK),lactatedehpdrogesase(LDH)in plasma and myeloperoxidase(MPO)ratio, and a powerful microscope was used to observe the tissue structure of musculus triceps surae in every group. Results:The degree of plasma LDH,CPK,MDA and MPO in skeletal muscle in control and estrogen groups were significantly higher than those in sham group(P0.01),while the degree of plasma CPK,LDH,MDA and MPO in skeletal muscle in setrogen group were significantly lower than those in control group(P0.01),and the structure of gastrocnemius muscle in estrogen group significantly improved when compared with that of the control group. Conclusion:Estrogen has a protective effect on the skeletal muscle ischemia reperfusion injury and is related to the effect of inhibiting neutrophil.
