Effects of terpinen-4-alchol on the proliferation of cervical carcinoma cell line HeLa

Objective To investigate the effect of terpinen-4-alchol on the proliferation of cervical carcinoma cell line HeLa.MethodsHeLa cells were treated with different concentration of terpinen-4-alchol for 24 hours.The morphology of HeLa cell treated with terpinen-4-alchol was observed by invert-microscope.Cell proliferation was detected by MTT assay.ResultsThere was an obvious change in shape after HeLa cells were treated with terpinen-4-alchol for 24 hours and the characteristics of the apoptosis could be observed under the light-microscope.For 0.001% ～0.006% terpinen-4-alchol concentration,with the increasing concentration of the drug,the inhibition rate increased from 14.0% to 95.1% and the inhibition to cell proliferation was significantly strengthened.But for 0.006%～0.01% terpinen-4-alchol concentration,the inhibition rate were not significantly different.ConclusionTerpinen-4-alchol can effectively suppress the proliferation of cervical carcinoma cell line HeLa.
