Enhancement effect of IL-2 on the proliferation of cultured HeLa cervical carcinoma cell line

Objective To investigate the effect of IL-2 on the proliferation of human cervical carcinoma cell line HeLa and explore its possible mechanismMethods Enhancement effect of IL-2 on proliferation of cultured HeLa cells,the effect of IL-2 on DNA content at various periods of cell cycle and on Ca 2+ concentration in the cells were detected and observed by MTT colorimetry,flow cytometry and laser scanning confocal microscope,respectivelyResults IL-2 of 10 to 1000 U/ml significantly stimulated the proliferation of cultured HeLa cellsIL-2(100U/ml)increased ratio of HeLa cells in G 2 and S phases and increased the Ca 2+release from HeLa cellsConclusion IL-2 significantly enhanced the proliferation of HeLa cervical carcinoma cell lineThe enhancement effect of IL-2 on HeLa cell proliferation is possibly related to the altering of DNA content and increased Ca 2+concentration in the cells
