Abstract

Objective To understand the level of AIDS-related knowledge among medical and non-medical university students and explore relevant health education approaches to these two groups of population. Methods The students under survey were asked to fill in specially designed questionnaire related to AIDS knowledge.Three hundred and eighty five students of the Zhejiang Medical University and four hundred and sixty three students of the Zhejiang Politechnic University were selected as respondents by randomized cluster sampling. The rate of correct answer of the two student groups were analyzed with χ2 test. Results The result of the chi-square test indicated that there was significant difference between the two groups of students in AIDS related knowledge, routes of transmission and, attitudes to AIDS.Conclusions It will be important to strengthen AIDS-related health education among university students.
