Clinical efficacy of MEBO in treating wounds after nasal polypectomy

Objective: To observe the efficacy of MEBO in treating wounds after nasal polypectomy. Method: 78 patients after operation was treated with MEBO gauze, the gauze was plugged into the nasal cavity and was removed after 48 hours, the dressing was changed after cleaning the ethmoid sinus and nasal cavity. As a control, 65 patients were treated with vaseline gauze in association with 1% ephedrine and liquid paraffin drops, the gauze was changed 3 times a day. Result: MEBO treatment was superior to the control in terms of pain stopping effect, wound recovery, epithelial healing time and curative rate. The difference between the 2 groups was significant. Conclusion : MEBO is better the vaseline. It has pain stopping effect, and can promote wound recovery and epithelial healing. The curative rate is higher than vaseline.
