Abstract
Objective To study the association between angiotensinogen(AGT) gene T 235 variant and ischemic stroke in Chinese group.Method The M 235 T polymorphism of AGT was analyzed with combination of polymerase chain reaction restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR RFLP) plus direct AgNO 3 staining technique.122 chinese patients with symptomatic cerebral ischemia and 82 normal people were studied.Result The AGT T 235 allele frequency was higher among the population affected with non lacunar cerebral infarction than among those with lacunar infarction and control group. The patients with a parental history of stroke had higher prevalence of AGT T 235 allele than those without parental stroke history, but it did not reach the significant statistic. There was no statistical difference of AGT M 235 T genotype distributions between young (≤60 years) and old (60 years) patients. Conclusion These results suggest that AGT T 235 polymorphism is related with non lacunar cerebral infarction. The patients with parental stroke have higher T allele than those without parental stroke histories and controls.
