Abstract
Objective: To explore the relationship between angiotensinogen(AGT) gene M235T polymorphism and cerebral infarction in young and middle-aged adults. Methods: M235T polymorphism of AGT gene from peripheral blood leukocytes was examined in 62 cases with CI and 58 noninfarct controls by polymerase chain reaction(PCR) amplification and restriction fragment length polymorphism(RFLP).Results: The frequencies of AGT gene T235 allele and 235TT genetype were 79.84% and 64.52% respectively which are little higher than those of the control group(73.28% and 55.17% respectively). There is no statistical difference between them(χ~2=1.09,P=0.296;χ~2=1.443,P=0.230).Conclusions: There might be no association between AGT gene M235T and cerebral infarction in young and middle-aged adults.
