Abstract
AIM: To study the association of a molecular variant of angiotensinogen AGT (T174M) gene with myocardial infarct (MI) in Chinese Han population.METHODS: AGT (T174M) allele was determined by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP).RESULTS: The frequencies of AGT (M174) allele (16.7%) and 174MM genotype (7.6%) in the MI group were higher than those in the control group (1.49% and 9.45% respectively, χ 2=7.57, P0.025 and χ 2=5.79, P0.05 ),AGT gene 174MM genotype was an significantly increased risk factor of MI (odds ratio 3.66,P=0.018) .CONCLUSION: AGT (T174M) may be an independent risk factor for MI in Chinese Han population.
