Abstract
A new early maturity melon cultivar Xiami was developed by crossing inbred line 05106 as female parent and 05164 as male parent. The average fruit weight of Xiami is about 1.3 kg,and the yield on 667 m2 is 1 800-2 000 kg.The fruit is high globe shaped with dark green skin and sparsely and irregularly distributed stripes. The flesh is greenish white, crisp, sweet, and with thickness of 3.5 cm.The center soluble solids content is usually above 15%.The fruit developing period is about 41 days. The plant is medium in vigor with large leaf and medium length inter-node.It has good tolerance to low temperature and gummy stem blight in the field. It is suitable for growing in protected field.
