Breeding of a new hybrid melon variety——Zuirenxiang

Zuirenxiang is a mid-early maturity new hybrid variety of netted melon using inbreds C21 as male parent and C45 as female parents. The fruit matures about 100 days after sowing and 50 days after flowering. It has excellent quality and high resistance to powdery mildew. It produces oval shape fruit with gray-green skin,medium netting with light ribbing,the fruit shape index is 1.1-1.2. The flesh is orange in color and is juicy and flavorful,the thickness of flesh is 3.7 cm,the center soluble solid content is 13%-14%. The fruit weight is about 1.1 kg,the 667 m2 yield is about 2 000 kg. It is suitable for in open field and protected field cultivation in the northwest China.
