The changing world of environmental management

Abstract

This article examines the growth in legislation and regulation and its impact on electric power utilities. The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) Environment Division recently updated its evaluation of environmental requirements affecting electric utilities. The effort confirmed the ultra-rapid growth of federal environmental policies through 1990. These new laws and regulations not only influence the well-being of citizens, but also help define much of the complexity of utility environmental management.
