Abstract

How important are environmental concerns relative to other problems of a complex society. Which environmental concerns seem most important. How do these perceptions change over time. An appreciation of the different answers given to such questions by different segments of society is a requirement for informed debate and analysis of environmental policies. This article reports the answers of America's electric utilities - by all accounts major actors in the continuing interaction between society and the environment. 1 table.
