Abstract
It was carried out that effects of cadmium(Cd) treatment on seed germination and seedling growth of various rice varieties.The results showed that the effects of Cd treatment on the characters as germination rate,seedling height,fresh weight per plant were different.Range from 0—10 mg/kg,the harms on the germination rate and germination vigor were not significant,but inhibited effects on the maximum root length and seedling height were significant,and enhanced with the increase of Cd concentration.The fresh weight per plant was evidently inhibited under Cd stress,but it was not significantly different among various Cd concentration treatments.The dry weight per plant of most varieties was increased with the increase of Cd concentration.From the above,the maximum root length,seedling height and fresh weight per plant were considered as standards for evaluating the tolerance to Cd toxicity in rice,and the germination rate and germination vigor could not be standards.
