Abstract

In order to understand the effects of soil cadmium(Cd2 +)on crop seed germination and reveal the mechanism of the impact on crop, hydroponic culture was used to study the impact of different concentrations of Cd2+solution(0,3,6,9 mg·L-1)on soybean seed germination. The germination rate, germination energy, germination index and vigor index were investigated under the Cd2+stress.Under 3 mg·L-1 Cd2+ solution treatment, the germination rate was less affected, while seed germination index and vigor index were all higher than those of control. With the Cd2+ solution concentration increased, the germination rate, germination index and vigor index decreased gradually, and seed germination energy decreased significantly. Results indicates that lower concentration of Cd2+ could promote seed germination, while higher concentration of Cd2+ could inhibit seed germination in soybean.
