Abstract
[Objective] The study was to give a theoretical base to prevent the harm of heavy metals Cd and Cu to rice.[Method] With the rice varieties Xiannong 10,20 and 40 as tested materials, the influences of cadmium chloride and copper sulfate treatments with different concn on seed germination and seedling growth were investigated. [Result] The seed germination rate and vigor of 3 varieties had a little difference from that of CK under the stress of cadmium and copper and the prolongation of root was restrained obviously. The seedling heights of Xiannong 20 treated with cadmium and copper at 5 and 10 mg/L resp.and that of Xiannong 40 treated with cadmium and copper at 10 and 30 mg/L resp.were all decreased significantly. The biomass of 3 rice varieties changed as that of plant height. When cadmium and copper was 5 and 10 mg/L resp, the chlorophyll content of seedling was significantly lower than that of CK.The seedling root vigor of Xiannong 20 treated with cadmium at 5 mg/L and that of Xiannong 10 and Xiannong 40 treated with cadmium at 10 mg/L were all significantly lower than that of CK.[Conclusion] The influence of heavy metal stress on rice seed germination was little and was bigger on seedling growth.
