Abstract

OBJECTIVE To approach drug-resistance of clinically isolated Pseudomonas aeruginosa(PAE) in mountain area hospitals of Hefeng County to provide the scientific accordance for the reasonable use of the antibiotics.METHODS PAE were cultured and identified according to the National Clinical Laboratory Operation Rules.Drug susceptibility test was performed by K-B methods.RESULTS Totally 259 strains of PAE were mainly isolated from lower respiratory tract, trauma, operative wound, urinary tract, skin and mucosa.Drug-resistance results of PAE to commonly used antibiotics showed that the antibiotics to which over 60.0% drug-resistance rate were as followed: SMZ-TMP(68.7%),cefotaxime(65.3%),cefepime(64.5%) and gentamicin(61.8%).The antibiotics with highest drug-susceptibility rate were carbopenems such as imipenem(11.2%) and meropenem(12.0%).CONCLUSIONS Drug-resistance status of P.aeruginosa is very serious in mountain area hospitals in Western Hubei. We should strengthen the administration and controlling of nosocomial infections.
