Abstract
This paper introduces an UWB antenna in coplanar waveguide configuration. Two design approaches were employed to trade off between the good matching properties and stable radiation pattern so as to obtain optimum performance over the entire bandwidth of interest. Detailed design approach validated by full wave simulation and experimental results is introduced to confirm the performance of reported antenna. The results indicate that the proposed antenna has an ultra-wideband antenna with good matching properties, omnidirectional pattern, and high radiation efficiency over the entire band. The antenna has a matched bandwidth of better than 123% bandwidth with radiation efficiency better than 94%. The worst reflection coefficient is only -9 dB over only 5% bandwidth.
