Abstract

The Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) hypothesis postulates an inverted-U-shaped relationship between different pollutants and per capita income. The paper applied econometric analysis model to study the ecological environmental quality and economic growth. It chose the time series data of Heilong jiang Province from 1990 to 2005. Based on EKC and econometric analysis model of environment quality and economy development, environment-economy quantitative relationship is studied and achievements of environmental protection policies are evaluated. The results show that the EKC of Heilong jiang province is not in inverted-U shape and environmental problems can not be solved thoroughly depending only on economic growth. The result has demonstrated that the necessity and correctness of accelerating ecological and economy harmonize development by developing ecological province construction of Heilong jiang province.
