Abstract
In 1981, Denmark will begin construction of its first gas transmission and distribution system, comprising 140 miles of North Sea delivery line, 400 miles of major transmission line, 900 miles of medium-pressure feeder lines, and 7000 miles of distribution mains. Receiving some 93 billion CF/yr of gas from Danish fields in the North Sea, the network will provide energy to many residential and industrial markets that now use imported oil. The three pressure levels that will be used in the system are 1160 psi in the transmission pipeline, 230 psi in the regional distribution lines, and 60 psi in the local mains. The entire system is sized to accommodate the expected seasonal variations in consumption.
