Abstract

Included in this general discussion of the East Wilmington oil field are: reserves estimates, production statistics, water injection, and the drilling activity and program. If maximum economic benefits become the major factor to consider in the production practices, an estimated 769 million bbl of crude will be recovered. However, it is estimated that 1.2 billion bbl can be recovered if the production is prorated over the next 30 yr. The field's 250 producing wells have been averaging a little more than 300 bpd production. Because of the danger of subsidence in the Long Beach area, water injection and pressure maintenance are a necessity. Nearly 200,000 bpd are now being injected, and ultimately Thums expects to inject 750,000 bpd through 200 injection wells. Approximately 18 wells are currently being completed each month and a total of 1,000 wells are expected. Of these, 800 will be producing wells and the other 200 will be used for water injection.
