Developers undaunted by energy and economic problems

It is thought that rising energy costs and a possibly faltering economy will not slow building activity for at least 2 years. Owners said in a survey by Building Design and Construction in August that they would make changes primarily in design improvements, a new clustering of functions in land plans, a rethinking of site preferences, better quality construction, and more use of innovative building systems. Use of solar devices, more energy-efficient windows, underground structures, and one-stop centers are cost-effective weapons against high fuel costs.
