Abstract

THIS THESIS OUTLINES THE FEASIBILITY OF A HIGH-OUTPUT MEASURING APPARATUS DERIVED FROM THE LIGHTWEIGHT VIBRATOR, WHICH APPLIES THE TECHNIQUE OF SURFACE VIBRATIONS TO ROAD STRUCTURES. DATA ARE PRESENTED ON THE MEASUREMENTS OBTAINED WITH THE LIGHTWEIGHT VIBRATOR ON SEMI-RIGID PAVEMENTS, AND THE POSSIBLE USES OF THE SUPER-VIBRATOR ARE DISCUSSED. ADEQUATE EVALUATION CRITERIA LEADING TO: (1) A RATIONAL METHODOLOGY FOR HIGH-OUTPUT NON-DESTRUCTIVE TESTING; (2) A DEFINITION OF SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE SUPER-VIBRATOR AND ITS OPERATION; (3) THE STUDY OF THE TECHNICAL AND FINANCIAL INTEREST OF THE NEW EQUIPMENT, ARE DEFINED.
