More passenger trains on freight railroads

Abstract

This article describes some of the conversation that took place at Railway Age's 20th annual Passenger Trains on Freight Railroads conference in Washington, DC. The conference addressed a number of issues continually faced by passenger and freight rail operators, including capacity, safety, liability, compensation, competition and access. The article highlights remarks made by Amtrak President and CEO Joe Boardman and Michigan State University Professor Steve Ditmeyer on industry challenges and possible solutions.
