Abstract
Components of power electronics, modern insulation techniques and semiconductor cooling techniques are extensively used in electric tractive units of the S. N. C. F. The development of the drive techniques leads to the commutator-less three-phase current traction motor. The motor with voltage source converter a. c. is, despite certain disadvantages, of importance for dual current tractive units, One installation is actually being tested. The variant asynchronous motor with current source converter a. c. is provided for locomotives of medium performance. The synchronous motor with current source converter a.c. is especially suitable for the realization of high performance electric tractive units.
