Abstract

A descriptive account of the application of modern computer methods to the structural analysis of entire super-tankers. The computerized approach is explained and compared to classical methods. A survey is given of the technical problems associated with such an analysis. These include the size relationships of computer facilities, programs and structural models; the size and organization of the group necessary to accomplish such tasks; estimate of costs; estimates of computer time and total project times expected.
