Abstract
Section 2 of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link (CTRL) is scheduled to open in 2007. This article describes the CTRL, which will carry trains between the Channel Tunnel and London. High speed trains on the CTRL will be capable of traveling 300 kph (186 mph). When Section 2 opens, the fastest journey time between London and Paris will be 2 hours, 15 minutes. The CTRL is also expected to be a catalyst for economic development in the areas surrounding its stations.
