Abstract

This special supplement to New Civil Engineer commemorates the opening of the English Channel Tunnel, charting each milestone from concept to commission. Numerous photographs and paintings capture the tunnel's construction, as the author provides valuable insights into the efforts of key people who financed, designed, and built it. Driving and surveying tunnel lengths, building the terminals, upgrading highway links, and equipping the transport system are among the unique physical difficulties and logistical problems covered.
