Abstract
A project in a rural subdivision close to Denver, Colorado is described which involved shaping, grading, rock demolition, underground drainage, paving, aggregate shouldering, seeding, and erosion control. Within 6.5 miles of subdivision were seven cul-de-sacs, 15,000 cubic yards of excavation, super elevations, and 122 existing driveway elevations. Completion time for the project was 75 days. The most demanding paving required changing grades from plus 11.3 % to minus 11.25 % within a 400-foot length following a radius of 220 feet. Highlights of the project are summarized. Street paving thickness was 4.5 inches of hot mix asphalt, and approximately 23,280 tons of HMA were used on the project.
