Abstract

Rail communication is constantly evolving around the demand for high speed and efficient practices in a world of lborderlessr passenger and freight operators. As a consequence, rail infrastructure owners and administrators are looking for solutions based on products available locally but preferably used on a worldwide scale. Rail Systems whether they are low traffic main lines or high traffic metro lines rely on Telecommunications Systems as the backbone for traffic management. Telecommunications suppliers have been working on the development of systems that make the rail infrastructure more efficient and the operatorsr business more competitive and profitable. The objective of this activity has been to define and develop solutions that move from traditional proprietary systems to an open standard, converged, multi-featured communication platform that can fit the most demanding rail operational requirements.
