Abstract

The paper examines the use of the Static Cone Penetration Test (CPT) in a qualitative profiling mode in Drift and London Clay at a site at Bradwell, Essex. The efficacy of the CPT as a predictive tool when used with routine charts was limited, but the device was notably more successful with close Delft sample and continuous cored borehole control. Even so, the inability of the equipment to distinguish between mass and material characteristics remains a limitation.(A) For the covering abstract of the conference see IRRD 828222.
