Abstract
This paper discusses some of the findings of the UK's 15 year bridge rehabilitation programme started in 1988. The assessment part of the programme has revealed numerous hitherto unknown or unquantified structural deficiencies which have occurred as a result of original under-design for modern conditions or through subsequent deterioration. The areas considered include a) material strength, b) shear, c) bending, d) loading, e) structural form and f) lack of records. Aspects to be considered in carrying out interim measures are discussed. Other components to be inspected including post tensioning, parapets and support are briefly discussed. For the covering abstract see IRRD 898092.
A significance statement is not available in the OpenAlex record.
A contribution statement is not available in the OpenAlex record.
Method details are not available in the OpenAlex metadata.
Findings are not separately available in the OpenAlex metadata.
Limitations are not available in the OpenAlex metadata.
Application details are not available in the OpenAlex metadata.
