DETECT, CHECK, ACT! INTEGRATING VIDEO DETECTION AND INCIDENT MANAGEMENT

With traffic levels predicted to double by 2025 in the European Union (EU), public authorities must be able to guarantee a high level of safety for humanitarian and economic reasons. Fast incident detection and response systems have an important part to play here. Video detection is already a well-proven input method for traffic management systems and has two primary applications. Traffic data acquisition provides authorities with statistical data needed for planning, infrastructure design, and motorway management. Automatic incident detection helps authorities to issue warnings rapidly and reduce the response time of intervention teams.
