Abstract

This article discusses the approval of a one-half cent sales surtax that passed in November 2003, the revenues from which will likely be used for transit improvements outlined in Miami's People's Transportation Plan (PTP). The PTP calls for extending Metrorail, Dade County's commuter rail system north to Broward County and possibly Miami Beach, adding service to the Metromover people mover, and improving bus service.
