Abstract
The cucumber variety,'Xintai Mici'(with strong salt resistance) was hydroponically cultured to study the effects of exogenous Ca(NO3)2 on growth, chlorophyll,Malondialdehyde(MDA),proline and ions contents in the cucumber seedlings grown under salt stress(NaCl 65 mmol·L-1).It was shown that the dry and fresh weight、relative water content and leaves' chlorophyll content of salt-stressed cucumber were significantly enhanced with the foliar spray of Ca(NO3)2,but the MDA and proline contents were significantly decreased.Meanwhile, addition of Ca(NO3)2 decreased the contents of Na+ and Cl-,increased the contents of K+,Ca2+ and the ratio of K+/Na+ and Ca2+/Na+.The conclusion is that foliar spray Ca(NO3)2 can alleviate cucumber seedlings'salt injury and promote its growth by decreasing the range of water losing and photosynthetic pigments, protecting the integrity of membrane and participating the ions selective absorption.
