Effects of Exogenous Ca(NO_3)_2 on Nitrogen Compound Contents and Nitrate Reductase Activity in Salt-stressed Cucumber Seedlings

Abstract

The salt-tolerant cucumber variety Xintaimici was hydroponically cultured to study the effects of exogenous Ca(NO3)2 on the contents of proline,NO3——N,and NH4+-N,and nitrate reductase(NR) activity in the cucumber seedlings grown under the salt stress(NaCl 65 mmol·L-1) condition.The results showed that exogenous Ca(NO3)2 could reduce the increasing range of Proline and NH4+ content,the decreasing range of NO3——N content,and NR activity induced by salt stress.It was indicated that exogenous Ca(NO3)2 could normalize nitrogen metabolism by increasing the NO3——N content and NR activity,and then alleviate damage of salt stress on cucumber seedlings.
