Abstract
Approximately 25 percent of the total mileage is in the U.S., almost 17 percent is in Canada, and 58 percent elsewhere across the globe of the 15,185 miles of pipeline currently underway, 3816 miles are in the U.S. with 1678 miles of gas pipelines, 1828 miles of crude oil lines, and 310 miles of products pipelines presently being installed. About 9 percent of the pipelines underway are in Canada--1190 miles gas transmission lines, 520 miles major crude oil pipelines, and a small section of products pipelines. Gas transmission lines account for nearly one-half the 10,160 miles of pipelines underway elsewhere in the world--and nearly one-half all lines planned or proposed. (LK)
